Maintenance Indicator Light (Mil) Check

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1996 Suzuki X-90. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Turn ignition on. If MIL illuminates, go to next step. If MIL does not illuminate, go to TEST A-1 for appropriate application. Repair as necessary.
  2. Start engine. If MIL goes out, system is okay. If driveability problems are present, see TESTS W/O CODES article. If MIL remains on, check for DTCs. See RETRIEVING DTCS. If no DTC is stored in PCM memory with MIL illuminated, go to TEST A-2 for appropriate application. Repair as necessary.
