April 5, 2026: LEMON Manuals is launched! Read the announcement.

Flash Code Method

  1. Using a fused jumper wire, jumper 6-pin Data Link Connector (DLC) No. 2 (Black), terminal No. 1 (Blue/Green wire on Sidekick 1.8L; Blue/Orange wire on all others) and terminal No. 4 (Black wire) together. DLC is located in right front of engine compartment, next to washer fluid reservoir. See Fig 1.
  2. Turn ignition on. Observe OD/OFF indicator. Indicator will flash a number of times to indicate first digit of DTC, followed by a 1.5 second pause and an additional number of flashes to indicate second digit of DTC. If multiple DTCs are set, a 2.5 second pause will separate each DTC beginning with smallest number DTC first.
  3. If no malfunctions are present, OD/OFF indicator will flash once, pause for 1.5 seconds, and flash 2 additional times. This indicates DTC 12 (system operation normal). If a DTC is present, identify DTC and diagnose accordingly. See FLASH CODE/DTC IDENTIFICATION  table, then proceed to DIAGNOSTIC TESTS . After repairs are made, clear DTCs. See CLEARING TROUBLE CODES . Test drive vehicle and ensure OD/OFF indicator or MIL does not illuminate.
