DTC P1875: 4WD "Lo" Switch Circuit Fault: Notes

NOTE: DTC P1875 will set while driving faster than 3 MPH with throttle angle greater than 5 percent for at least 20 seconds and the following conditions are present:
  • Vehicle speed sensed by VSS (speedometer) is greater than 6 MPH less than speed sensed by VSS (transmission) when 4WD "LO" switch is open.
  • Vehicle speed sensed by VSS (speedometer) is more than 6 MPH greater than speed sensed by VSS (transmission) when 4WD "LO" switch is closed.
  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect TCM harness connector. Place transfer case gear selector in "2H" position. Using a DVOM, measure resistance between ground and TCM harness connector terminal No. 14 (Orange/White wire) while shifting transfer case gear selector from "2H" position to "4H" position, then to "N" position. If resistance is less than 2 ohms in specified positions, go to step 5). If resistance is not as specified, go to next step.
  2. Place transfer case gear selector in "4L" position. Using a DVOM, measure resistance between ground and TCM harness connector terminal No. 14 (Orange/White wire). If resistance is less than 2 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, go to step 6).
  3. Inspect all harness connections for poor contact. Repair as necessary and retest system. If harness connections are okay, go to next step.
  4. Reconnect TCM harness connector. Clear DTCs. See CLEARING TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Road test vehicle at 19 MPH with gear selector lever in "D" position and transfer case gear selector in 2WD range. Stop vehicle, place gear selector lever in "P" position and transfer case gear selector in "4L" position. Road test vehicle at 19 MPH with gear selector lever in "D" position for about 30 seconds. If DTC P1875 resets, repeat step 1). If DTC resets for a second time, replace TCM. If DTC does not reset, fault is not present at this time. Check for an intermittent problem. See DIAGNOSTIC AIDS.
  5. Disconnect 4WD "LO" switch harness connector. Using a DVOM, measure resistance between ground and TCM harness connector terminal No. 14 (Orange/White wire). If resistance is less than 2 ohms, repair Orange/White wire for a short to ground between TCM and 4WD "LO" switch. If resistance is not as specified, replace 4WD "LO" switch.
  6. Disconnect 4WD "LO" switch harness connector. Using a DVOM, measure resistance between 4WD "LO" switch harness connector terminal No. 1 (Orange/White wire) and TCM harness connector terminal No. 14 (Orange/White wire). If resistance is less than 2 ohms, replace 4WD "LO" switch. If resistance is not as specified, repair open in Orange/White wire between TCM and 4WD "LO" switch.
