Preliminary Check

Attempt to start engine. If engine starts, go to step 1). If engine does not start, diagnose ignition system. See appropriate BASIC TESTING article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.

• F - BASIC TESTING - Geo
• F - BASIC TESTING - 1.6L - Suzuki 1.6L
• F - BASIC TESTING - 1.8L - Suzuki 1.8L

1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Inspect PCM and TCM harness connectors for poor connections. Repair as necessary and retest system. If connections are okay, go to next step.
2. Check Brown/White wire between 16-pin PCM harness connector terminal No. 10 and TCM harness connector terminal No. 4 for an open or short. Repair as necessary. If wire is okay, replace PCM and retest system.
