Symptom Chart "A": Abs Warning Light On Constantly, No DTCS Stored

  1. Using scan tool, operate ABS warning light. If warning light flashes, light is currently functioning correctly. If warning light does not flash, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect 32-pin EBCM harness connector. Turn ignition switch on. Connect jumper wire between ground and 32-pin EBCM harness connector terminal No. 21 (Black/Blue wire). If ABS warning light does not turn off, go to next step. If ABS warning light turns off, inspect EBCM harness connector for poor terminal contact. Repair as needed. Reconnect all connectors. Turn ignition on. If ABS warning light is illuminated, replace EBCM.
  3. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove IG fuse. Turn ignition switch on. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and 32-pin EBCM harness connector terminal No. 21 (Black/Blue wire). If voltage is one volt or less, go to next step. If voltage is not one volt or less, repair short to voltage in Black/Blue wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  4. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Install IG fuse. Remove ABS check relay. See Figure . Turn ignition on. If ABS warning light is not illuminated, go to next step. If ABS warning light is illuminated, repair short to ground in Blue/Orange or Red/Blue wire between ABS check relay and ABS warning light.
  5. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Measure resistance of Black/Blue wire between 32-pin EBCM harness connector terminal No. 21 and 5-pin ABS check relay harness connector terminal No. 4. If resistance is 2 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is not 2 ohms or less, inspect Black/Blue wire for open. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair as needed. If circuit is okay, replace ABS check relay.
  6. Reconnect all connectors. Turn ignition on. If ABS warning light is not illuminated, system is currently functioning correctly. If ABS warning light is illuminated, replace EBCM.
