Exhaust Gas Recirculation: Testing and Inspection
System Inspection (using SUZUKI scan tool)
1) Connect SUZUKI scan tool and cartridge to data link connector with ignition switch OFF.

(b): SUZUKI 1996 OBD-II cartridge
NOTE:
For operation procedure of SUZUKI 1996 OBD-II cartridge, refer to SUZUKI 1996 OBD-II cartridge operator's manual.
2) Start engine and warm up it to normal operating temperature (80 - 100°C, 176 - 212°F).
3) Clear DTC, pending DTC, freeze frame data in ECM memory by using scan tool.
4) With engine idling (without depressing accelerator pedal), open EGR valve by using (MISC TEST mode). In this state, according as EGR valve opening increases engine idle speed drops. If not, possible cause is clogged EGR gas passage, stuck or faulty EGR valve, poor performance of ECT sensor or TP sensor or DTC and/or pending DTC is (are) stored in ECM memory.
