Engine Temperature Sensor: Service and Repair

Removal and Installation







Removal
1) Disconnect negative cable from battery.
2) Drain cooling system.
3) Disconnect coupler from ECT sensor and A/C water temp. switch.
4) Remove ECT sensor from water outlet pipe by using crowfoot wrench or similar tool.

Installation
Reverse removal procedure noting the following.
- Clean mating surfaces of sensor and water outlet pipe.
- Tighten ECT sensor to specified torque.

Tightening Torque
(a): 15 Nm (11.0 lb-ft)

- Connect coupler to sensor securely.
- Refill cooling system.
