Overdrive/Coast Clutch: Disassembly
- Remove snap ring, flanges, discs and plate from overdrive clutch drum. See Figure . Measure thickness of flange and record for reference of piston stroke confirmation.
- Remove snap ring and overdrive clutch apply tube. Remove snap ring, flanges, discs and plate from coast clutch. Measure thickness of flange and record for reference of piston stroke confirmation.
- Using an appropriate press, compress overdrive clutch return spring. Remove snap ring and return spring subassembly. Install forward clutch assembly, coast clutch piston and overdrive clutch piston into transaxle rear cover.
- Apply 57-113 psi (4-8 kg/cm2 ) of compressed air into oil hole "B" to remove coast clutch piston. See Figure . Remove "O" rings from coast clutch piston.
- Apply 57-113 psi (4-8 kg/cm2 ) of compressed air into oil hole "A" to remove overdrive clutch piston. See Figure . Remove "O" rings from overdrive clutch piston.
