Forward Clutch: Inspection
- Check for worn, discolored (burnt) or cracked discs, plates and flanges. Replace if necessary. If printed numbers on clutch disc surfaces are defaced, replace them.
- Using calipers, measure forward clutch return spring height. Perform measurement at several points. Replace return spring assembly if height is less than .866" (22 mm). Ensure check ball is free in piston and does not leak when compressed air is applied.
NOTE:
Soak new clutch discs in ATF for 2 hours or more before assembly.
