Visual Inspection

Check the following and repair as necessary:

• Engine Oil: check level and for evidence of leakage.
• Engine Coolant: check level and for evidence of leakage.
• ATF: check level, condition and for evidence of leakage.
• Battery: check water level and terminal corrosion.
• A/T Hoses: check for poor connections or deterioration.
• Throttle Cable: excessive play or improper installation.
• Harness Connectors: check for poor connections or worn insulation.
• Fuses: check for improper installation or for burning.
• Related Mechanical Parts: check for proper installation and condition.

If no problems are found during visual inspection, and only DTC 12 is retrieved even though a problem exists, perform a manual shifting test. See MANUAL SHIFTING TEST  under TRANSMISSION SHIFT TESTING.
