Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1995 Suzuki Esteem. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

ECT sensor delivers an input signal to TCM, indicating engine coolant temperature. TCM uses this signal to prevent gear change to OD and TCC lock-up when coolant temperature is less than a predetermined value. ECT sensor is located on water outlet, next to distributor. See Figure.
