DTC 61: Abs Pump Motor Circuit

  1. If pump motor runs constantly, go to next step. If pump motor does not run constantly, go to step  4 .
  2. Test pump motor relay. See ABS PUMP MOTOR RELAY  under COMPONENT TESTS. Replace relay if faulty. If ABS pump motor relay is okay, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect ABS control module 26-pin connector E23. Turn ignition on. If pump motor does not run, substitute known-good ABS control module and repeat test. If pump motor runs, repair White/Green wire for short to voltage. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  4. Turn ignition off and check ABS pump motor relay connector terminals for corrosion and damage. If connection is clean and tight, test ABS pump motor relay. See ABS PUMP MOTOR RELAY  under COMPONENT TESTS. Replace relay if faulty. If ABS pump motor relay is okay, go to next step.
  5. Check pump motor connector terminals for corrosion and damage, repair as necessary. If connector terminals are okay, test pump motor. See PUMP MOTOR  under COMPONENT TESTS. Replace motor if faulty. If pump motor is okay, go to next step.
  6. Turn ignition off. Disconnect ABS control module 16-pin harness connector E22 and 26-pin harness connector E23. Check ABS control module harness connector E23 terminals No. 1 (White/Green wire) and No. 7 (Gray/Black wire) for corrosion and damage, and repair as necessary. If connector terminals are okay, check Gray/Black wire between ABS pump motor relay terminal No. 1 and ABS control module 26-pin harness connector terminal No. 7 for an open circuit condition or short to voltage. If circuit is okay, go to next step. If circuit is not okay, repair Gray/Black wire between ABS control module and ABS pump motor relay for open circuit or short to ground or Green/Red wire between ABS pump motor relay and power source for an open circuit. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  7. Reconnect pump motor connector. Measure resistance of White/Green wire between ABS control module harness connector E23 terminal No. 1 and good body ground point. If continuity is present, substitute known-good ABS control module and repeat test. If continuity is not present, repair White/Green wire or Black wire (ground circuit) for open circuit at pump motor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
