CONDITION

Modification of ABS controller.

CAUSE

Factory modification to standardize control modules.

CORRECTION

When replacing the ABS controller, please use the information as listed in this bulletin.

This bulletin is to inform you of the modification of the ABS control module which has been carried out since November 1995 production. This modification was made to standardize ABS control modules. The late type controller will require a new procedure to clear the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC). Please see SERVICE PROCEDURES for an explanation of this procedure.

SERVICE INFORMATION

EARLY AND LATE TYPE IDENTIFICATION

The ABS control module can be identified by the part number located on the side of the controller, as shown. See Fig 1 .

DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) CLEARANCE

WARNING: To avoid the possibility of an accident when performing a road test, please observe the following precautions: - Perform the road test in a safe area where traffic is sparse. - Always test the vehicle on a level road. - Always use two people. One to drive the vehicle and one to operate the Tech-1.
