Disabling & Activating Air Bag System

WARNING:
To avoid accidental air bag deployment and possible personal injury, be sure to wait at least 2 minutes, after disabling SIR system, before beginning work on system.
- Straighten vehicle's front wheels and turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove key from ignition.
- Locate air bag fuse box (near base of steering column) and remove AIR BAG IG fuse.
- Remove steering wheel side cap. Disengage Connector Position Assurance (CPA) clip and disconnect driver-side inflator module.
- Pull top of glove box outward while depressing stops. Allow glove box to fall toward passenger seat. Disengage CPA clip and disconnect Yellow connector for passenger-side inflator module.
- To activate SIR system, turn ignition switch to LOCK position and remove key. Reverse steps 2 through 4 above. Turn ignition switch to RUN position and verify that AIR BAG warning light flashes 7 times and turns off. If AIR BAG warning light does not function properly, perform SIR DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under TESTING - DIAGNOSTIC.
