Oxygen Sensor: Description and Operation

The oxygen sensor is installed on the exhaust manifold to detect the concentration of oxygen in the exhaust gases. The oxygen sensor heater promotes activation of the oxygen sensor.





HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR HEATER CONTROL SYSTEM
This system controls operation (ON/OFF) of the heater which assists activation of the oxygen sensor. ECM turns the oxygen sensor heater ON (to allow the electric current to flow to the oxygen sensor heater) when the engine is running without high-speed condition.
