TCM Diagnostic Circuit Check
NOTE:
Refer to illustration for TCM harness connector and circuit identification. See Fig 1.
- Road test vehicle and leave engine running once road test is completed. Retrieve DTCs. See RETRIEVING TROUBLE CODES . If any DTCs are retrieved, go to next step. If no DTCs are retrieved, go to step 4).
- If DTC 12 is present, turn ignition to LOCK position. Disconnect transaxle solenoid harness connector. See Fig 2. Perform manual shifting test. See MANUAL SHIFTING TEST under TRANSMISSION SHIFT TESTING. Go to next step. If any other DTC is present, go to appropriate DTC test.
- If transaxle does not shift correctly, see OVERHAUL article. If transaxle shifts correctly, perform THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR CIRCUIT CHECK. If no faults can be found, problem may be intermittent. See OVERHAUL article.
- If no DTCs are retrieved, or ohmmeter shows no reaction, go to step 6). If ohmmeter reacts, but needle does not sweep to indicate a DTC, go to next step.
- Check Pink wire for a short to ground between monitor coupler and TCM. Repair as necessary. If wire is okay, replace TCM and retest system.
- Check for poor harness connection at TCM. Check Pink wire and Pink/Black wire for an open between monitor coupler and TCM. Check for good ground connections at TCM and monitor coupler. See appropriate wiring diagram in WIRING DIAGRAMS . Repair as necessary. If circuits are okay, replace TCM and retest.
