Removal & Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1996 Suzuki X-90 and 1996 Suzuki Sidekick. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Before proceeding, read air bag service precautions section. See SERVICE PRECAUTIONS  . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM  .
  2. Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) is located under center console. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove rear then front console to access SDM. Remove Connector Position Assurance (CPA). Disconnect SDM connector. Remove SDM and SDM bracket from vehicle. See Fig 1 .
  3. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten SDM fasteners. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Reactivate air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM  . Check AIR BAG indicator light to ensure system is functioning properly. See TESTING - SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK  .
