DTC 4: Limit Valve Reset Switch Closed

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect RWAL ECM connector. Measure resistance between RWAL ECM harness connector terminal No. 4 and ground. See Figure.
  2. If resistance reading is more than 10 k/ohms, check RWAL ECM connections. If connections are okay, replace RWAL ECM. If resistance reading is less than 10 k/ohms, disconnect pressure limit valve connector.
  3. Measure resistance between pressure limit valve terminals No. 3 and 4. See Figure. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, replace pressure limit valve.
  4. If resistance is more than 10 ohms, measure resistance between pressure limit valve harness connector terminal No. 3 and ground. If resistance is less than 100 k/ohms, repair short to ground in Blue wire of harness.
  5. If resistance is more than 100 k/ohms, firmly depress brake pedal. Measure resistance between pressure limit valve terminals No. 3 and 4. If resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, replace pressure limit valve. If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, replace RWAL ECM.
  6. Clear Code 4 by disconnecting negative battery cable for at least 5 seconds.
