"D" Position Test
- Engine and transmission must be at normal operating temperature. Shift transmission into "D" position. Accelerate vehicle by depressing accelerator pedal gradually. Ensure all upshifts and downshifts occur at specified points. Refer to appropriate SHIFT SPEED SPECIFICATIONS table.
- Ensure lock-up occurs at appropriate speeds. See appropriate LOCK-UP SPEED SPECIFICATIONS table. Lightly depress accelerator pedal. If excessive increase in engine RPM is present, lock-up will not occur.
- Check for shock and slippage at all upshifts. Check for abnormal noise and vibration. While driving in "D", "2" and "L" gear positions, ensure speeds at 2-1, 3-2 and OD-3 kickdown are within specification. Check for shock and slippage at kickdown.
