Steering Wheel: Removal

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Turn steering so front wheels are in straight-ahead position. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position and remove key. Remove AIR BAG fuse from air bag fuse box located under driver's side instrument panel, left of steering column.
  2. Remove left steering wheel side cover and disconnect Yellow air bag module connector. Pull out glove box while pushing glove box stopper from right and left sides. Disconnect Yellow air bag module connector located in right side of glove box opening.
  3. Remove right steering wheel side cover and disconnect horn connectors. Remove 2 bolts securing air bag module to steering wheel and remove air bag module from steering wheel.
  4. Remove steering wheel nut. Make reference marks on steering wheel and steering shaft for installation. Use Steering Wheel Puller (09944-36010 or 09944-36011) to remove steering wheel from steering shaft. See Figure and Figure .
