Disabling Activating Air Bag System

NOTE: On 1996 A6 models with AIRBAG 111 system, the single-pin air bag voltage supply connector has been eliminated. It is only necessary to disconnect negative battery cable.
  1. Disconnect and shield negative battery cable. Disconnect air bag voltage supply connector. On A4, Cabriolet and 90, the voltage supply connector is located on a clip behind inspection cover, on driver-side lower instrument panel cover. See Fig 1.
  2. On 1995 A6, connector is located in the passenger-side footwell, above electronic box (marked with a warning tag). See Fig 2. Driver-side air bag is now disabled. To disable passenger-side air bag, disconnect passenger-side air bag voltage supply connector(s). Passenger-side air bag is now disabled.
  3. To activate system, reconnect negative battery cable and voltage supply connector. Perform system operation check to ensure system is functioning properly. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK .
