Electronic Ignition System
The electronic ignition system consists of a distributor which utilizes a camshaft/crankshaft position sensor to produce ignition pulses. Ignition pulses are sent to ECM, which advances or retards ignition timing according to information from many sensors.
Timing control is achieved by ECM triggering igniter and in turn igniter grounding and opening ignition coil circuit. Power for ignition coil and ignitor is provided from fuse box 15-amp fuse, which receives power when the ignition switch is in the ON position.
