Fail-Safe Operation

When a failure occurs in any of the sensors listed below and their circuits, a signal indicating such failure is fed to ECM, which judges that signal as such.

Even then, however, control over the injector, SC solenoid valve and others is maintained on the basis of the standard signals prestored in the memory of ECM while ignoring that failure signal. This function is called "fail-safe function". Thus, with this function, a certain level of engine performance is available even when some failure occurs in these sensors or their circuits and disability in running is avoided.
