Scan Tool Method (PCM)

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1996 Suzuki Esteem. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Using an OBD-II compatible scan tool, interface PCM by connecting to OBD-II 16-pin Data Link Connector (DLC), located under instrument panel, accessible from driver's side. Retrieve DTCs following scan tool manufacturers instructions.
  2. If a DTC is present, identify DTC and diagnose accordingly. See DTC IDENTIFICATION , then proceed to DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. After repairs are made, clear DTCs. See CLEARING TROUBLE CODES . Test drive vehicle and ensure OD/OFF indicator or MIL does not illuminate.
