WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1996 Suzuki Esteem. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Diagnostic procedures used in this section are designed to find and repair SRS System problems. For best results, utilize diagnostic charts and follow sequence listed below.
- Perform SRS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK . SRS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK should be starting point of any SRS diagnostics. SRS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK checks for proper AIR BAG indicator light operation and for SRS Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
- Refer to proper diagnostic chart as directed by SRS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK. SRS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK will lead to correct chart to diagnose any SRS problem. By-passing these procedures may result in extended diagnostic time.
- Repeat SRS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK after performing any repair or diagnostic procedures. Performing SRS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK after all repair and diagnostic procedures will ensure repair is correct and no other conditions exist. When ignition switch is first turned to ON position, system voltage is applied from AIR BAG fuse to Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM). SDM responds by flashing AIR BAG indicator 6 times while performing tests on SRS.
WARNING:
To avoid air bag deployment and injury when trouble shooting system, only use test equipment specified in diagnostic charts. Under no circumstances should battery powered test equipment or test light be used. Carefully follow all instructions.
