Removal & Installation

  1. Before proceeding, read air bag service precautions section. See SERVICE PRECAUTIONS  . Disable the SRS system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM  .
  2. Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) is located under center console. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove console box extension. Remove 4 bolts and steering support member lower brace. Disconnect Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) connector. Remove 3 bolts. Remove Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) and SDM plate from vehicle. See Fig 1 .
  3. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten SDM bolts. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Reactivate SRS system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM  . Check AIR BAG indicator light to ensure system is functioning properly. See TESTING - SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK  .
