Shift Solenoid Test

  1. When shift solenoids are removed from transmission, verify valve function before reinstalling. Ensure ATF does not flow out from solenoid side holes when battery voltage is NOT applied.
  2. Perform procedure in step 1) while applying battery voltage. Ensure ATF flows freely from side holes. DO NOT  reuse solenoid if flow is restricted.
  3. Shift solenoid circuit resistance can be checked with an ohmmeter at connector. With ignition switch in OFF position, disconnect solenoid connector. Place ohmmeter probes on the terminals and measure solenoid resistance. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Refer to the SHIFT SOLENOID RESISTANCE  table.
