Steering Gear: Disassembly
- Place steering gear in a soft-jawed vise. Place reference marks on tie rod ends and inner tie rods for reassembly reference. Loosen lock nuts and remove tie rod ends.
- Remove spring clip, boot clamp and boot. Bend up lock washer tab. Unscrew inner tie rod from rack. Remove cap, rack adjusting screw, spring and rack plunger. See Fig 1.

- Remove dust cover. Using Socket (09944-28210), remove pinion bearing plug and case seal. To remove pinion, use soft-faced hammer and tap on housing while holding pinion. Remove rack from housing.
