Power Steering Pump: Disassembly

  1. Thoroughly clean outside of pump assembly before disassembly. Secure pump in soft-jaw vise. Remove suction connector and discard "O" ring. See Figure . Remove pressure switch assembly. Remove relief valve assembly and spring. Remove bolts and rear pump cover from pump body. Discard "O" ring.
  2. Remove cam ring and vanes from rotor. Remove snap ring from pump shaft and remove rotor. Pull pump shaft (with pulley attached) from bump body. Remove side plate and discard "O" rings. Remove and discard oil seal.
