Intake Manifold: Installation

  1. Clean all mating surfaces. Install new gasket with manifold onto cylinder head. Install wire harness clamps so wires do not interfere with fuel pump. Install 3-way solenoid valve (TWSV) with terminals facing down and away from carburetor. Tighten manifold nuts and bolts to 14-20 ft. lbs. (18-27 N.m).
  2. Install vacuum lines and coolant hoses. Connect emission control hoses. Connect electrical leads for cooling fan, thermal switch, water temperature gauge switch and TWSV.
    NOTE: When connecting TWSV, be sure to connect Blue harness connector to Blue TWSV terminal and Black harness connector to Black TWSV terminal.
  3. Refill cooling system and connect negative battery cable. Ensure accelerator cable is properly adjusted. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure.
NOTE: Accelerator cable is properly adjusted when engine is at normal operating temperature, throttle plates are in idle position, and cable free play of .12-.19" (3-5 mm) is obtained. When engine is cold and choke plate is closed, cable free play should measure .40-.59" (10-15 mm).
