Removal & Installation: Engine: Removal

- Depressurize fuel system by removing fuel tank cap to release fuel vapors. Start engine, disconnect fuel pump relay connector and wait until engine stops running. See Fig 1 .
- On all models, disconnect battery cables. Remove battery, battery tray and hood. Drain coolant and remove radiator hoses. Disconnect cooling fan wires.
- Remove radiator and cooling fan as an assembly. Disconnect fuel lines and heater hoses. Identify, mark and remove vacuum lines and hoses at engine. Disconnect accelerator cable at throttle body. Remove fresh air duct.
- Disconnect speedometer and clutch cable with bracket at transaxle. Label and disconnect engine and transaxle wiring. Loosen A/C compressor adjusting bolt. Remove drive belt splash shield. Raise vehicle and disconnect exhaust pipe at manifold.
- Loosen A/C compressor pivot bolt. Remove drive belt and A/C compressor mounting bracket. Disconnect gearshift control shaft and gearshift extension rod at transaxle. Drain transaxle and engine oil. Disconnect ball joints and drive axles.
- Remove engine torque rods and transaxle mount nut. Lower vehicle and remove engine side mount and mount nuts. Install chain hoist and remove engine and transaxle as an assembly.
