Idle Speed & Mixture: Dashpot

  1. Ensure transmission is in Park or Neutral and parking brake is set. Start engine, and warm it to operating temperature. Turn all accessories off. Ensure idle speed is within specification. See IDLE SPEED SPECIFICATIONS  table under IDLE SPEED.
  2. Operate throttle lever to increase and decrease engine RPM while noting RPM at which dashpot rod contacts throttle lever. Adjust dashpot adjusting screw to specified RPM at which dashpot rod should contact throttle lever. See Fig 1 & 6. See DASHPOT ADJUSTMENT  table.

DASHPOT ADJUSTMENT

Application (1) RPM
DOHC 3000-3400
(1) Engine speed when throttle lever contacts dashpot rod after deceleration.
