Coil Spring: Removal
- Raise and support vehicle. Remove front wheel(s). On 2WD models, remove hub center cover. On 4WD models, remove free-wheeling hub. See FREE-WHEELING HUB (4WD) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove axle shaft snap ring. On all models, disconnect brake line from strut. Remove caliper from steering knuckle, and wire aside. Using Tie Rod Remover (09913-65210), remove tie rod end from steering knuckle. Remove stabilizer ball joint.
- Remove brake disc. If disc cannot be removed by hand, install (2) 8-mm bolts into threaded holes. Alternately tighten bolts to remove rotor from hub. Support control arm with jack. Remove strut-to-steering knuckle bolts. Disconnect ball joint from steering knuckle. Remove steering knuckle from vehicle. Slowly lower jack supporting control arm and remove coil spring from bump stopper.
