Shift Solenoids

  1. Obtain access to TCM. See Figure and Figure . Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect electrical connector from TCM. To check solenoid operation, connect jumper wire between +B terminal and S1, S2 and S3. See Figure. Ensure operating sound can be heard when battery voltage is connected. Replace solenoid if operating sound cannot be heard.
  2. To check solenoid seals, connect battery voltage to solenoid. Apply fluid to solenoid with battery voltage connected. See Fig 1.
  3. With battery voltage applied, fluid should pass through solenoid. Disconnect battery and ensure fluid does not pass through solenoid. Replace solenoid if defective.
