Ignition Switch & Column Lock: Removal

  1. Ensure front wheels are pointed straight ahead. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove steering wheel, horn pad and combination switch. See STEERING WHEEL & HORN PAD and COMBINATION SWITCH. Remove steering column. refer to REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in STEERING COLUMN article in STEERING section.
  2. Use a hammer and drift punch to loosen shear bolts from column lock assembly. Use care not to damage aluminum part of steering lock body with drift punch. Turn ignition key to ACC or ON position. Remove column lock assembly from steering column. See Fig 1 and Fig 2 .
