Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor (Samurai & Swift SOHC)

On Samurai and Sidekick TBI, air temperature sensor is located on side of intake manifold. On Sidekick MPI and Swift SOHC, air temperature sensor is located on side of air cleaner. On all models, air temperature sensor thermistor changes resistance with respect to temperature. High temperature causes low resistance. Low temperature causes high resistance. A reference voltage (supplied and monitored by ECM) is modified by sensor resistance. ECM uses this information to help determine control (output) signals to injector.
