Camshaft Position Sensor: Description and Operation

Crank Angle Sensor:

The crank angle sensor located in the distributor consists of a signal generator (pick-up coil and magnet) and signal rotor.
As the signal rotor turns, A/C voltage is generated in the pick-up coil which varies in pulsatory way. This pulse signal (4 per revolution) is sent to the ECM where it is used to calculate engine speed and also as one of the signal to control various devices.
