Throttle Switch Adjustment (SOHC M/T)

  1. Unplug Throttle Switch (TS) connector. Insert .024" (.06 mm) shim thickness gauge between throttle lever and throttle stop screw. Loosen TS mounting screws. See Figure .
  2. Connect ohmmeter between terminals "A" and "B". See Figure . Turn TS fully counterclockwise. Turn TS slowly clockwise to locate point at which ohmmeter reading changes from zero to infinity. Hold TS at that position, and snug-tighten mounting screws.
  3. Ensure continuity does not exist between terminals "A" and "B" when 0.035" (0.9 mm) shim thickness gauge is inserted between throttle lever and throttle stop screw.
  4. Ensure continuity exists between terminals "A" and "B" when 0.012" (0.30 mm) shim thickness gauge is inserted between throttle lever and throttle stop screw. Tighten TPS mounting screws to 18 INCH lbs.(2.0 N.m).
  5. If continuity is not as specified in steps 3) and 4), TS zero adjustment is incorrect. Restart adjustment sequence. If results are still incorrect, replace TS. After final adjustment is completed, ensure mounting screws are tightened and reconnect TS connector.
