BACKDRIVE Solenoid: Swift

  1. Remove center console. Solenoid should be adjusted so when ignition switch is in OFF position, solenoid is inoperative. With ignition on and brake pedal depressed, solenoid should be engaged and lock plate will be in correct position. See Fig 1 .

  2. Clearance between lock plate and detent plate should be more than .04" (1.0 mm). If clearance requires adjustment, loosen solenoid mounting screws and reposition solenoid.
  3. With ignition off, gearshift should not shift from Park. If manual release lever is pulled with ignition off, gearshift should move from Park to other gear positions.
