Anti-Lock Brake System - Rear Wheel: Description

The Rear Wheel Anti-Lock (RWAL) brake system is designed to control braking force of rear wheels. This serves to eliminate wheel lock and maintain directional stability during hard brake application. System consists of a wheel speed sensor (mounted in rear differential), pressure limit valve, RWAL Electronic Control Module (ECM) and connecting wiring harness.

Power is supplied to the RWAL ECM through the RWAL power relay. System also use a self-diagnostic function, which enables technician to quickly trouble shoot system by monitoring stored RWAL trouble codes through flashes of the BRAKE warning light.

NOTE: RWAL ECM may also be referred to as the RWAL Brake Controller.
