Removal & Installation (Swift)

Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove steering wheel, horn pad and combination switch. See STEERING WHEEL & HORN PAD and COMBINATION SWITCH. Unplug wiring connectors to steering column switches.
Pull back floor mat at bottom of steering shaft and remove lower steering column cover. Remove steering shaft upper joint side bolt. See Fig 1 .

Remove steering column mounting nuts. See Fig 2 . On A/T vehicles, remove backdrive cable from steering column assembly. Remove steering column. To install, reverse removal procedure.
