TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN
Reference Number(s): TS 2-06 01222, Date of Issue:
DISTRIBUTOR HARNESS OPEN CIRCUIT
Model: ALL 1991 SIDEKICK
No: TS 2-06 01222 (R)
Group: Engine Performance
CONDITION
Engine may develop a miss and/or die. No trouble codes will be stored, and the vehicle may start if the distributor harness is wiggled.
CAUSE
Wiring harness for distributor to the strap on the firewall is too tight (See Fig 1 ). Normal torquing of the engine causes the wires in the harness to break at the distributor coupler, which causes loss of ignition and injector pulses.
CORRECTION
If the harness is found to be strung too tightly, pull the harness through the tie straps on the bulkhead (see Fig 2 ) to form a loop with the harness wires going to the distributor.
A DISTRIBUTOR WIRE HARNESS CONNECTOR (P/N 36617-67A00) IS NOW AVAILABLE THROUGH THE PARTS DEPARTMENT
