EGR Vacuum Switching Valve
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Green ECM connector and VSV connector. Vacuum Switching Valve (VSV) is Blue and is mounted near right side of valve cover, at front of engine. Turn ignition on.
- Check for battery voltage on Blue/Black wire terminal at VSV connector. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, check circuit between VSV and EFI main/control relay. If circuit is okay, check EFI main relay. See EFI MAIN RELAY under RELAYS .
- Turn ignition off. Check resistance between solenoid terminals. If resistance is not 33-39 ohms, replace solenoid. Disconnect upper and lower hoses from VSV. Connect short section of hose to lower horizontal port of solenoid. Blow air through hose connected to solenoid. Air should not exit through filter.
- If air does not exit through filter, replace solenoid. If air exits through filter, energize solenoid by applying battery voltage to Blue/Black wire terminal and ground to other terminal. Solenoid should click. Blow air through hose connected to solenoid. Air should exit through the filter and not through the other port. If test is not as specified, replace solenoid.
