Steering Knuckle & Front Axle Shaft: Installation

  1. To install, reverse removal procedures. Pack kingpin bearings and spindle bushing with Grease (99000-25010 ) prior to installation. Apply approximately 5 ozs. (150 g) of Grease (99000-25010 ) to the inside of steering knuckle prior to installation.
  2. Install kingpins and shims in original location. Check kingpin adjustment. See KINGPIN  under ADJUSTMENTS in this article. Apply Sealing Compound 366E (99000-31090 ) on dust cover-to-steering knuckle contact areas, spindle-to-brake caliper holder and spindle-to-steering knuckle areas prior to installation.
  3. Install hub assembly. Adjust wheel bearings. See FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS  under ADJUSTMENTS in this article.
