EGR Temperature Sensor: Description and Operation

Regulated Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor (REGTS) And EGR Valve:

PURPOSE
Monitors operation of EGR system (for self-diagnostic system).

LOCATION
In the EGR valve.

OPERATION
This sensor measures the temperature of the exhaust gas and converts its change into a resistance through a thermistor. That is, as gas temperature lowers, resistance increases and as it rises, resistance decreases. The ECM reads the resistance of the REGTS sensor, and uses the information to determine EGR operation.
