Evaporative Emissions System: Testing and Inspection

1. Start engine, then disconnect canister purge hose from canister.
2. With engine cooling water temperature below 140°F, engine speed higher than 1500 RPM and throttle valve open wider than idle position, place finger against end of disconnected hose.
3. Check if vacuum is present, also check if vacuum is not present when one or more conditions in step two are not as specified.
4. If test is not satisfactory, check vacuum passage, hoses, VSV, wire harness and ECM.
