Fuel Cut System

This system on 1989 Samurai, consists of a solenoid valve mounted in the primary idle circuit of the carburetor. The solenoid valve cuts off fuel supply to prevent dieseling when the ignition is shutoff, and to improve fuel economy and reduce catalyst overheating during deceleration. On fuel injected models, the fuel cut system is designed to cut fuel injector operation on deceleration so that unburned gas will not be exhausted. Fuel injection is also stopped when engine speeds exceed 6800 RPM to prevent over-run. On 1989 Samurai, fuel supply is cut when the following conditions are met:
1. Coolant is at normal operating temperature.
2. Idle microswitch is in On position, primary throttle valve is closed.
3. Engine speed above 2400 RPM.
