Throttle Switch Adjustment (SOHC)
- Unplug Throttle Switch (TS) connector. Insert .024" (.06 mm) shim thickness gauge between throttle lever and throttle stop screw. Loosen TS mounting screws. See Figure
.
- Connect ohmmeter between "A" and "B" terminals. See Fig 1
. Turn TS counterclockwise fully, then turn TS clockwise slowly to locate position that ohmmeter changes from zero continuity to infinity. Hold TS at that position, snug-tighten mounting screws.
- Ensure there is NO continuity between terminals "A" and "B" when 0.035" (0.9 mm) shim thickness gauge is inserted between throttle lever and throttle stop screw.
- Ensure continuity exists between terminals "A" and "B" when 0.012" (0.3 mm) shim thickness gauge is inserted between throttle lever and throttle stop screw. Tighten TPS mounting screws to 18 INCH lbs. (2.0 N.m).
- If steps 3) and 4) results are NOT as indicated, TS zero adjustment is incorrect, restart adjustment sequence. If second adjustment results are still incorrect, replace TS.
- After final adjustment is completed, ensure mounting screws are tightened and reconnect TS connector.
