Input Shaft Assembly: Reassembly

  1. Press on RH bearing using Transaxle Shaft Bearing Installer (Geo J34844, Suzuki 09925-98221). Install 3rd gear needle bearing, apply oil and install 3rd gear and synchronizer ring.
    NOTE: On 1991 and later Swift models, 5th gear synchronizer ring spring may be left out when reassembling transmission (Technical Service Bulletin No. TS 3-08 01132). All other parts remain the same and can be assembled with or without the synchronizer ring spring in place.
    NOTE: High speed (5th gear) synchronizer keys have been modified. Check for appropriate TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN in the TECH SERVICE BULLETINS section.
  2. Using a hammer and Input Gear Bearing Installer (Geo J35283, Suzuki 09913-84510), drive on high speed sleeve and hub assembly. Ensure synchronizer ring slots are aligned with keys in sleeve and hub assembly and check for free rotation of 3rd gear.
  3. Install snap ring. Ensure snap ring is installed in groove securely. Install needle bearing, apply oil and install synchronizer ring and 4th gear.
  4. Using transaxle shaft bearing installer drive on LH bearing and 5th gear spacer.
