"D" Range Test

  1. Shift into "D" range. Hold accelerator pedal constantly at fully closed throttle position. Check 1-2 and 2-3 upshift points. See appropriate table under SHIFT SPEED  . Stop vehicle. Shift into "D" range. Hold accelerator pedal constantly at fully open throttle position. Check 1-2 and 2-3 upshift points. See appropriate table under SHIFT SPEED  . Stop vehicle.
    • If no 1-2 upshift occurs, 1-2 shift valve, 2nd brake solenoid, controller or circuit is defective.
    • If no 2-3 upshift occurs, 2-3 shift valve, direct clutch solenoid, controller or circuit is defective.
  2. Run vehicle at 15 MPH. Release accelerator completely. After one to 2 seconds, depress accelerator pedal fully. Check if downshift occurs from 2-1. Run vehicle at 47 MPH. Release accelerator completely. After one to 2 seconds, depress accelerator pedal fully. Check if downshift occurs from 3-2.
    • If no 2-1 or 3-2 downshift occurs, throttle position sensor, controller or circuit is defective.
